Art as a Space for Encounter
The exhibition “Oddźwięki, odblaski, odbicia” presents the work of artists associated with Poland, France and other European countries, including the French association RESONANCES, which has for years fostered the idea of international artistic exchange. The title of the exhibition refers to the ways in which reality finds its reflection in art. The works on display, including painting, textile art, objects and experiments with materials, explore themes of memory, transience, corporeality, emotions and the relationship between people and the space that surrounds them. However, the diversity of techniques and perspectives does not lead to the search for a single shared artistic language. Rather, the essence of the exhibition lies in what emerges between individual works, the experiences of their creators and the interpretations of their audiences.
Three Universities, One Joint Project
The exhibition is also an example of cooperation within the academic community of Lodz, where the expertise of representatives of different fields has been brought together in a shared artistic undertaking. The curatorial concept was developed by Alexandra Prajer, representing the association RESONANCES, while the exhibition was coordinated by dr hab. Barbara Kaczorowska, Associate Professor at the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. The project also involved representatives of Lodz University of Technology: Dr Maciej Jabłoński, responsible for the visual identity, and dr hab. Aleksandra Wereszka, author of the exhibition design. On behalf of the University of Lodz, the project is supported by Prof. Mieczysław Gajos, Head of the Department of Applied Linguistics and Romance Languages Teaching at the Institute of Romance Studies, Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz, as well as by the Centre for Organising Cultural Events and Conferences.
The cooperation between the three universities therefore extends beyond the organisation of the exhibition itself. It brings together artistic practice, design, research and education, demonstrating how different areas of expertise can complement one another. The international character of the exhibition further broadens this dialogue by introducing creators representing different cultural environments and artistic traditions.
